We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Field Medical Assistant (MA) to join our mobile healthcare team. This role provides direct support to a Nurse Practitioner (NP) during patient visits in patient home and assisted living settings. The MA will assist with patient preparation, minor clinical procedures, and coordination of care while ensuring a safe and organized environment. This position requires excellent clinical skills, adaptability in varied care settings, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.

Description

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

● Drive between patient locations, allowing NP to complete charting in the car.

● Accompany NP to patient homes, assisted living facilities, and other care settings.

● Prepare and position patients for physical exams and minor procedures.

● Perform dressing changes and simple wound care under NP supervision.

● Support NP during assessments by setting up equipment and supplies.

● Maintain infection control practices while preparing and cleaning the patient environment.

● Assist NP with more complex dressing changes such as NPWT or compression wraps

● Document medical information during visits at direction of NP or manager

Care Coordination & Administrative Duties

● Verify daily patient schedule and appointment details for scheduled appointments.

● Complete care coordination activities as directed by NP or manager

● Document tasks performed and ensure follow-up items are communicated clearly to the NP and care team.

● Return phone calls as directed by the NP or manager

Team & Communication

● Act as a professional representative of the practice while interacting with patients, families, and facility staff.

● Provide clear communication and updates to collaborating care teams.

● Assist NP in ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the day.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant certification/registration (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) required.

● Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting (Primary Care, Hospital at Home, Home-Based Physician Services, Outpatient Wound Center, or Mobile Wound Clinic preferred)

● Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

● Competency in wound care, patient positioning, and infection control practices.

● Strong computer and technology skills (EHRs, faxing software, secure messaging).

● Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

Complete assigned tasks independently in a timely manner

Work Environment

● Travel required to patient homes and assisted living facilities

● Must be comfortable with variable work environments and patient conditions.

● Physical requirements include frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting to 35 lbs.

Schedule & Benefits

● Full-time non-exempt, hourly position with weekday schedule (occasional flexibility as needed).

● Competitive pay based on experience.

Must use company car if directed or available. Mileage reimbursement when using their own vehicle for travel between patient visits.

● Benefits package available (medical, dental, vision, PTO, etc.).

Salary

$18 - $23 per hour
