Stord is The Consumer Experience Company, powering seamless checkout through delivery for today’s leading brands. We manage over $10 billion of commerce annually and are building the AI-first logistics platform for modern commerce.

The Freight TMS came to Stord through the ProPack acquisition as a system known as ProPack360 (P360). We are rebuilding it — with significant AI acceleration — into Stord’s native stack and integrating it with SMC3 for modern LTL rating, tendering, tracking, and document management. The system supports a ~$15M annual LTL freight business and, just as importantly, is the physical-movement backbone behind Stord’s zone-skipping strategy and Standalone Parcel courier pickups.

This role owns that system and that rebuild. We are looking for a product manager with real freight and LTL depth who has rebuilt or migrated a complex operational platform before, can move fast with AI-accelerated engineering, and understands that this system is the connective tissue between the parcel network and the physical world.

What makes this role transformational:

You will own the rebuild of an acquired freight platform (P360) into Stord’s native stack — an AI-accelerated, high-velocity program.

You will own the SMC3 integration for LTL rating, tendering, tracking, and document management, replacing legacy providers.

You will own the first-mile, middle-mile, and final-mile movement that makes Stord’s zone-skipping strategy possible.

You will own the sortation engine that injects packages into the network and captures the actuals that protect margin.

What You’ll Do:

Freight TMS Rebuild (P360 → Native Stack) (35%):

  • Own the rebuild of ProPack360 into Stord’s native stack, including the full rebuild of the legacy frontend into React.

  • Own the SMC3 integration: aggregate pricing, electronic BOL, dispatch, status notifications, and document retrieval.

  • Drive the decommissioning of legacy providers and the cutover into the Stord cloud environment.

  • Sequence the rebuild into deliverable phases with parallel validation before production cutover.

LTL Freight Operations (20%):

  • Own LTL rating, tendering, PRO assignment, and BOL management via carrier APIs.

  • Own the freight work-order lifecycle from build to completion.

  • Support the ~$15M annual LTL freight business and the operations team that runs it.

  • Own LTL tracking, milestone visibility, and document management (PODs, invoices, weight certificates).

Zone-Skipping & Middle-Mile (20%):

  • Own first-mile courier pickups from brand facilities, often as consolidated LTL shipments.

  • Own hub consolidation, linehaul between hubs, and final-mile injection into carriers.

  • Partner with the Standalone Parcel PM so the Freight TMS reliably executes the physical legs the Parcel API routes.

  • Own the logistics logic that makes zone-skipping economical.

Sortation Integration (15%):

  • Own the sortation engine and the integration with sortation hardware (e.g. NPI Xstream).

  • Own the decision-engine requirements that process scan data and return sort instructions within tight latency bounds.

  • Own the automated capture of actuals (weight/dims) that feeds real-time auditing and margin preservation, in coordination with Core TMS.

Carrier & Infrastructure Partnerships (10%):

  • Serve as the product relationship owner for LTL carriers and LTL API infrastructure partners (SMC3).

  • Manage relationships with sortation hardware and middle-mile partners.

  • Represent Freight TMS needs in technical and commercial discussions.

What You’ll Need:

Freight & LTL Domain Expertise:

  • Hands-on experience with LTL freight operations: rating, tendering, PRO/BOL, and carrier tracking.

  • Understanding of freight document workflows (BOL, POD, weight certification) and the freight work-order lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with LTL carrier APIs and infrastructure providers (SMC3 or comparable).

  • Understanding of first-mile, middle-mile, and final-mile movement and the economics of consolidation and zone-skipping.

System Rebuild & Migration Experience:

  • Track record rebuilding or migrating a complex operational system without disrupting the business it supports.

  • Comfort sequencing a large rebuild into phases with clear cutover and validation steps.

  • Experience working with AI-accelerated engineering to move quickly while managing risk.

  • Pragmatism about technical debt, legacy behavior, and what must be preserved versus improved.

Operational & Logistics Fluency:

  • Experience building products for operations teams that run real physical workflows.

  • Understanding of how warehouse, sortation, and transportation systems connect.

  • Comfort with latency, throughput, and reliability requirements for systems tied to physical operations.

Product Execution & Collaboration:

  • Strong concept docs, user stories, test/migration plans, and acceptance criteria.

  • Experience in a defined product-engineering workflow with clear handoffs.

  • Ability to coordinate with adjacent product areas (Standalone Parcel, Core TMS) on shared flows.

What Gets Us Really Excited:

  • You have rebuilt or migrated a freight, TMS, or operational system and can talk through how you de-risked the cutover.

  • You have deep LTL or freight experience and understand rating, tendering, and document workflows.

  • You have built products that drive physical movement — pickups, consolidation, linehaul, sortation.

  • You have worked with AI-accelerated engineering and have a point of view on where it helps and where it doesn’t.

  • You understand that this system is the bridge between the parcel network and the physical world.

  • You have shipped AI-powered features in a logistics or operations product and have strong opinions on where the technology genuinely improves outcomes - and where it doesn't.

  • You have a track record of shipping features that measurably improved operational efficiency.

  • You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments where the roadmap evolves with the business.
