Role Overview
We are looking for a Strategic Finance (Senior) Manager to own Nelo's financial modeling engine. This is the core quantitative role within Strategic Finance: you will be responsible for the company model, all scenario planning, and the tooling that helps leadership and operators understand where growth is headed, how revenue is tracking, and what the business looks like under different assumptions.
Approximately 50-60% of your time will be spent modeling. The rest will be spent translating model outputs into clear, decision-ready communication for founders, board, and senior management. This role is instrumental for the Company’s storytelling and is core to the creation of board decks and corporate presentations.
This is not a reporting role. You will own the underlying assumptions and input variables, monitor them in near real time, and update the model as the business evolves. You will know why every line moves before anyone asks.
What You Will Own
Company Financial Model
P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow fully integrated at the product level
Loan origination model by product
Cohort-based revenue and loss projection, including retention curves and credit loss assumptions
Base case and scenario planning across macro, credit, and growth dimensions
Business unit P&L with clear contribution margin visibility
Origination and Growth Modeling
Statistical forecasting of GMV and loan originations by channel and vintage
LTV modeling and cohort-level breakeven analysis
CAC and payback period tracking tied to origination assumptions
Model Maintenance and Real-Time Tracking
Daily and weekly refresh of key model inputs: approval rates, activation rates, repayment rates, FPD, unit economics
Assumption library: documented, versioned, and auditable
Alerts and triggers when actuals diverge from the model
Tooling and Dashboards
Monthly and weekly performance dashboards for leadership and the board
Self-serve scenario analysis tools for non-finance stakeholders
Cohort and LTV visualization for investor and lender consumption
Python and AI-assisted automation to reduce manual work and increase update frequency
Communication
Monthly performance decks with variance commentary
Narrative synthesis of model outputs: simple, direct, and decision-ready
Direct interface with founders and senior management
Storytelling: translate complex model outputs into a clear narrative that non-finance stakeholders can understand and act on
Charting: design clean, precise charts and visualizations that make data immediately readable for leadership, board, and investor audiences
Who You Are
5 or more years in a data, finance, or quantitative role at a fintech or tech company
Expert-level Excel and financial modeling; you build complex models and explain them simply
Strong Python skills: you use it for data manipulation, model automation, and dashboard tooling
Comfortable writing and debugging SQL for data pulls from a warehouse (Athena, BigQuery, or similar)
You use AI actively in your workflow, not as an afterthought
You work with speed and precision; attention to detail is not a trade-off for you
You communicate outcomes clearly to non-technical audiences, in writing and in person
You are a strong storyteller: you can take a complex model and turn it into a clear, compelling narrative that drives decisions
You produce clean, precise charts and visualizations; you know which chart type fits which insight and you design for the audience, not for yourself
Experience with cohort-based modeling, LTV analysis, or consumer lending economics is a strong plus
