The primary purpose and function of the Regional Trainer is to provide effective delivery of field learning programs which ensure employees receive the appropriate training and development opportunities supporting quality medicine, technical skills, excellent member experience, and leadership development. To do this, the Regional Trainer will provide exceptional side-by-side training for our veterinary care teams, utilize excellent communication skills, instill trust and build relationships, and embody continuous growth and development. The Regional Trainer will assist in the facilitation of onboarding new clinic Care Teams, the rolling implementation of new initiatives (either directly or via clinic-based certified trainers), execution of the Clinic Advancement Strategy, and support the People Development & Engagement Team in creating and maintaining programs and content.

Further defined:

The Regional Trainer will work directly with Area Leadership and support their assigned areas to facilitate execution of training initiatives. They are responsible for ensuring all training is up to date with current protocols and procedures, and following appropriate PD&E content management processes when it’s not. This individual will be responsible for Certified Trainer development for their assigned areas/clinics. They will partner closely and collaboratively with the Area Medical Directors of their assigned areas to regularly assess/audit the skill levels of the para-staff and work with leadership to make a plan for skill development gaps where necessary. They will support their area dyads in the focus areas of medicine, operations, technology, member experience, and leadership.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the PD&E Program Manager Medical Quality
  • Support the training and development of multiple clinics, prioritizing based on both need and impact
  • Deliver practice approved training - assisting in measurement of accuracy, comprehension, and effectiveness of training sessions while following Modern Animal standards, PD&E standards, and creating consistency across all field learning programs.
  • Support Clinic Leaders in training, development, and new initiative implementation within their clinics, coordinating and executing training plans and training resources across new and existing clinics
  • Provide an ongoing process of collecting feedback, monitoring and assessing training needs to identify procedural/protocol deficiencies, and providing refresher training when needed.
  • Spend time in clinics observing and working alongside the care team, identifying gaps in training across individuals and clinics in order to identify themes in regional areas of opportunity.
  • Partner with Clinic Leaders to root cause barriers to performance, specifically identifying gaps that can be solved with training and creating plans to address training gaps. Provide leaders with clear and actionable plans to resolve training gaps.
  • Be a resource for clinic leadership to reach out to when they have identified a training need, by either providing internal or external resources, or directly assisting
  • Support set-up of new clinics and be a critical participant in training
  • Assist in maintaining training documentation
  • Facilitate Nursing Excellence upskilling for Certified Trainers
  • Identify any gaps in NCO training program
  • Work with the clinic leadership to ensure that the staff is appropriately trained to support the clinic needs
  • Other job duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years in the Veterinary Industry, preferably as a credentialed VT.

  • Organized and detail oriented, highly skilled in follow-up and follow-through.
  • The ability to work thoroughly & independently, requesting appropriate assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems. Knowledge of principles and processes for measuring and evaluating program and individual effectiveness preferred.
  • Ability to build successful relationships in order to influence, persuade, motivate, and engage while not having direct authority.
  • Travel to various clinics across the country will be required, in addition to weekend availability.

The pay range for this position is $69,300 - $90,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
