Our goal is to expand the boundaries of what's possible in pet healthcare, and we're seeking a talented Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our systems.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Modern Animal, you will play a crucial role in building upon our platform and ensuring the highest standards of quality for our users. You'll be joining an engineering team that is both fast-paced and intellectually stimulating, with plenty of room for growth.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement based in Los Angeles, CA. You'll have the flexibility to work remotely with one day a week to collaborate in person at our office.

What You'll Do:

  • Take a leadership role in expanding and enhancing our test automation coverage to achieve full E2E coverage across all core flows in our web and mobile applications.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive test plans that blend manual testing with automated test execution.
  • Communicate effectively with developers and product managers to ensure the highest quality solutions are being implemented from beginning to end.
  • Serve as a domain expert in testing solutions, with a focus on components that directly impact the user experience, ensuring both depth and breadth of testing coverage.
  • Support our internal Help Desk to identify, triage, and resolve defects as they are raised.
  • Build and maintain expertise in our products, understanding their functionality, architecture, and underlying technologies.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in testing processes and tools, leading efforts to enhance them with scalable solutions.
  • Proactively communicate risks and challenges, seeking guidance and mentorship as needed to overcome obstacles.

Why You'd be a Great Fit:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, quality assurance processes, and the critical role of E2E test coverage
  • Proficiency with automation testing tools such as Detox and Playwright, and experience setting up and scaling automated test infrastructure
  • Skilled in writing and executing test plans for both web and mobile applications, with an appreciation for balancing manual and automated testing efforts
  • Passion for quality, with a proactive mindset toward quality evangelism
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $129,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
