Who we're looking for in this role:
The manager in this role will work towards building exceptional veterinary care teams, have excellent communication skills, ensure accountability, instill trust and build relationships, develop their team, and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
The Clinic Manager will be responsible for ensuring clinics are operating at optimal utilization through a focus on Modern Animal’s four commitments 1) Medical Quality; 2) Employee Engagement 3) Member Experience 4) Profitable Growth.
Medical Quality:
- Ensuring all members of the care team are upholding the high Modern Animal medical quality standards through their work, including via member communications, recommendations, patient care, and treatment
- Driving medical quality through effective team communication and member communication, across the entire clinic team, including doctors
- Driving efficiency throughout the clinic, ensuring the ability to deliver the best possible care to all patients that need it
Employee Engagement:
- Leading and empowering a team of veterinary nurses, veterinary assistants, hosts, kennel attendants, and other non-DVM roles in individual and collective performance
- Ensuring accountability with respect to work quality, attendance, member satisfaction, and medical quality
- Fostering effective teamwork and ensuring an appropriate mix of skills, perspectives, and experience, starting with the hiring process
- Identifying development opportunities, providing regular feedback and accountability to to ensure ongoing growth and skill development resulting in productive clinic operations and the optimal range of skillsets
- Collaborating with team to create regular meeting agendas, leading and conducting meetings and huddles to ensure seamless communication
- Driving productive and timely conflict resolution
- Navigating setbacks and uncertainty with ease, fostering employee engagement by adapting to change and maintaining a positive attitude in challenging environments.
- Fostering an environment of continuous learning, improvement, and excellence
- Leading and conducting daily huddles and monthly monthly meetings
- Utilizing clinic’s engagement budget to foster a collaborative and celebratory culture
Member Experience:
- Full ownership of your clinic’s membership experience
- Creating and driving a team culture that sees the member as a partner in delivering care, making members feel welcome, cared for, and confident
- to empower the overall hospital team to deliver an unparalleled member experience, in-clinic and virtually
- Assessing member experience to understand opportunities and moving swiftly to programmatically identify, train, and reinforce behaviors that improve our customer’s experience
- Ensuring effective resolution of clinic’s member escalations and follow-through on action plans
Profitable Growth:
- Leading the clinic P&L, ensuring the right balance across all 4 commitments and driving bottom-line financial results
- Owning the clinic schedule, including all doctor and staff schedules, meeting operating plan goals by appropriately scheduling flows, optimizing appointment and procedure utilization, and solving for future staffing gaps or developmental/skill gaps
- Maintaining optimal inventory levels and implementing effective inventory control processes and systems
- Managing facilities, equipment, and repairs and maintenance to ensure team and operation can function at optimal capacity and R&M spend is within target; proactive about troubleshooting; drives quick resolution when there are issues
- Approving and monitoring timesheets
- Managing relief coverage
Why you'd be a great fit:
- 5+ years of leadership role experience with a passion for people leadership
- Previous veterinary experience preferred but not required
- A collaborative and resilient go-getter, willing to roll-up sleeves, be hands-on, and adapt as they go
- A leader with high emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills
- Openness to performing additional tasks related to clinic operations as needed, within a reasonable scope of the role
- Embraces feedback and demonstrates a willingness to learn and improve continuously.
