Our Mission & Team
At Flexport, our mission is to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. The Ocean Allocation & Yield team is at the heart of this mission, orchestrating the movement of thousands of containers across the globe. We are evolving from manual processes to a future where every allocation decision is standardized, automated, and optimized.
The Opportunity
As a Program Manager, you will be a key driver in executing our strategy. You will be the bridge between our business strategy and our technology, owning and implementing the programs that will make our operations more data-driven, automated, and client-focused. You will work at the intersection of our Commercial, Procurement, Operations, and Technology teams to ensure the programs you lead deliver measurable improvements to our cost-to-serve, client satisfaction, and overall yield. This isn't just about managing projects; it's about fundamentally changing how ocean freight is managed.
You will:
- Own and drive the adoption and automation of our core planning tools (FMT/BAE), developing the roadmap and change management plan to reach our goals.
- Lead the operational design and execution of our segmented product strategy (Standard, Premium, Express), ensuring our systems and processes can flawlessly deliver on different service-level promises.
- Define, translate, and prioritize complex business needs into clear, long-term requirements for our Technology partners, acting as a key stakeholder for our product and engineering teams.
- Design and lead global initiatives from concept to completion, creating pilots, defining roadmaps, and managing stakeholders to implement standardized, best-in-class processes.
- Define and own the Key Performance Indicators that measure the health of our allocation strategies, using them to steer the business and drive continuous improvement.
You should have:
- 8-11+ years of experience in ocean freight, program management, operations management, or a similar strategic role, with a proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects.
- A proven analytical and systems-thinking mindset. You are an expert at mapping complex workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and designing scalable solutions.
- Proficiency in SQL and a deep understanding of data-driven decision-making. You don't just read dashboards; you know how to design the systems that produce them.
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end system implementation and change management. You know how to build a new process and get a global organization to adopt it.
- A deep understanding of how to translate strategic goals (like our AOP) into operational reality. You can take a high-level target and build the detailed plan to get there.
- Bias for Action, Process, and Data: You're a structured leader who can take a complex, ambiguous problem, frame it, and drive it to resolution.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. You can confidently present and align with a wide range of stakeholders, from an operator in a gateway to C-level leadership.
- An obsession with client happiness. You succeed when they succeed.
- Courage to challenge the status quo. When you see something broken, you are driven to fix it.
