About

Edison Scientific builds and commercializes AI agents for science. Scientific discovery moves too slowly, and autonomous AI agents are how we intend to fix that. We're assembling a team of top researchers and engineers across AI and biology to build an AI scientist.

About the Role

As a Member of Operations Staff at Edison Scientific, you will operate as a high-trust generalist embedded across the business wherever you're needed most. Projects will vary: standing up new business lines, building analytics infrastructure alongside engineering, supporting corporate development efforts, or helping teams navigate critical transitions. You will report to our Head of Operations and partner closely with teams across Edison to strengthen our operational backbone as we scale.

This is a role for someone who wants to be close to the hardest problems at a company moving very quickly. You'll work directly with leadership and build relationships across every function. Scope and ownership will be significant — the path from here leads to functional leadership for those who want it.

This role is on-site at our San Francisco office in the Dogpatch neighborhood.

Responsibilities

  • Own cross-functional projects end-to-end, from scoping through execution

  • Build and run operational processes that make Edison easier to operate as we scale

  • Execute on projects spanning operations, finance, people, and business systems

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities before they become obvious

  • Pull and analyze data to inform decisions and track progress

  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders ranging from engineers to executives

  • Pick up whatever needs doing, even when it's outside your comfort zone

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, consulting, finance, or a similar business-side role

  • Demonstrated ability to own projects end to end without close supervision

  • Strong analytical foundation — comfortable pulling and interpreting data to drive decisions

  • Ability to communicate credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Track record of exceptional performance in whatever you've pursued

  • High tolerance for ambiguity, context-switching, and intensity

  • Actively uses AI tools to create leverage across daily work: automating tasks, optimizing workflows, and directing agents where appropriate

  • Strong interest in AI for science

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in a high-growth startup or early-stage company

  • A second degree (MBA, MPP) or pre-career path in a rigorous analytical field

  • Background in science, whether through formal training or professional experience in a scientific domain

What We Value
