A Staff Engineer specialising in Angular UI development is responsible for leading frontend technical strategy, architecture, and implementation of complex, scalable web applications using Angular and associated technologies. This role blends high-level technical design, mentoring of other engineers, collaboration with product and UX teams, and active coding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop scalable, maintainable, and performant frontend web applications using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Guide the frontend/UI architecture, coding standards, component library, style guides, and best practices for the engineering team.
• Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers and product managers to deliver intuitive and accessible user experiences, reviewing wireframes and prototypes and balancing technical feasibility with customer needs.
• Implement responsive design, accessibility, and performance optimization across devices and browsers.
• Consume RESTful APIs, work with backend teams to define API contracts, and facilitate robust integrations.
• Mentor and coach other frontend engineers, conduct code reviews, facilitate knowledge transfer, and maintain a culture of technical excellence.
• Own and advocate for high code quality, comprehensive testing (unit, integration, E2E), and best DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and identify opportunities for adopting new technologies within the team.
• Participate in planning, estimation, and delivery roadmaps, providing technical input and breaking down engineering work for the team.
• Interact with key stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of user problems and technical requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' experience building UI web applications, with strong expertise in Angular and TypeScript.
• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, RxJS, and web application bundlers (e.g., Webpack).
• Experience leading frontend/UI architecture and establishing coding standards in large teams.
• Strong background in consuming and designing REST APIs and collaborating with microservice/backend teams.
• Demonstrated experience optimising frontend performance and ensuring accessibility (WCAG guidelines).
• Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred Skills

• Experience guiding large-scale Angular migrations/upgrades or frontend platform transformations.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and frontend monitoring tools.
• Prior track record of interfacing with product management and customer-facing stakeholders.
