We are seeking a talented and experienced Analytics Engineer to join our dynamic team at Andela. As an Analytics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in translating complex business requirements into valuable data designs and implementing the necessary engineering components to support our analytical and data-driven initiatives. Your expertise in SQL, Python, data modeling, and cloud platforms will be instrumental in delivering accurate and timely data from diverse sources and driving business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- You are a talented Senior Analytics Engineer with a track record for delivering measurable results in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborate closely with Andela's business stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver actionable insights through data analysis and reporting.
- Design and develop SQL-based code base to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into our analytical systems.
- Utilize your strong knowledge of data modeling principles to design and optimize data structures for efficient storage and retrieval.
- Leverage your experience with data integration tools, such as dbt, to streamline data pipelines and ensure data quality and consistency.
- Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.
- Maintain and enhance Andela's metadata catalog to support a scalable self-service analytics environment.
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior members of the team.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in analytics and data engineering, identifying opportunities for innovation and aligning them with business objectives.
- Foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Mathematics, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with SQL and Python in a professional setting.
- Strong proficiency in a cloud platform, with experience in GCP being a plus.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in data modeling, from conceptual designs to physical implementations.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Experience with data integration tools, such as dbt, to streamline data pipelines and ensure data quality.
- Working knowledge of shell scripting and distributed version control systems, such as Git.
- Basic understanding of containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Looker) preferred.
- Experience with modern SaaS tools and familiarity with streaming and real-time data access concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose performance issues and provide effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
